Frequently asked questions

How is this ranking ordered?

Each restaurant scores with the formula (90-day average × number of reviews in that window + 20 × its area average) ÷ (number of reviews + 20). Those 20 points of "area average" stop a venue with 15 excellent reviews from overtaking one with 100 just as good. The area average comes from those same reviews: Chamberí 4.60, Almagro 4.41, Arapiles 4.62, Gaztambide 4.67, Trafalgar 4.62 and 5 more areas.

Why is a restaurant missing from the ranking?

Two possible reasons: it is not in the areas covered (Chamberí, Almagro, Arapiles, Gaztambide, Trafalgar, Salamanca, Fuente del Berro, Goya, Lista and Recoletos), or it has fewer than 15 customer reviews in the last 90 days. With fewer recent reviews there is no honest average to publish.

Do you publish the customer reviews?

No. The reviews stay on Google, where their authors published them. Here there are only aggregates: averages, counts and classifications, always with the source ("Google customer reviews") and the data date in plain sight.

How often is the observatory updated?

Every month. The current data runs to 22 Jul 2026; each update changes the rankings, the area averages and the date shown on every page.
